LAGOON CLEANUP | JUNE 2020

Well who would have ever thought we would be doing cleanups with masks…boy the world has changed.
Yet…Litter remains. And lots of it.
Iv seen people say “We’ve learnt to wear masks, now cant we learn to stop littering”  I roll my eyes out aloud at some of the sayings and arguements on social media (and there have been many “new” sayings over the past months with Covid 19 and the happenings in America).Had a chat to a passer by – Education is key – was the theme message……..and it is.
For me – the “activism” part – is what I enjoy. From doing beach cleanups to taking kids on outings, doing cleanups before soccer matches, talking to kids about litter and plastic, spending time out in the sun, catching up with “old” friends, hearing peoples opinions. Plastic haters loving paper. Paper haters loving plastic.
Right or wrong we are all in this together.
Another saying – there is no Planet B…There is no Plan B. There is pollution and we are the solution.

INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP | RAWSON | BIG BAY | SEPT 2020

On Saturday afternoon, as part of International Coastal Cleanup, we hosted a beach cleanup with @Leonatrawsonbigbay from Rawson.
We haven’t done a cleanup in Big Bay for ages and its amazing to see the work that has been done to stop the sea from reclaiming the land
Masks, social distancing and all those good things were followed.
We are definitely going to be starting these cleanups up again on a monthly basis.
Plus i think its time for another full moon walk
8 bags of litter were filled

POLAR BEAR SWIM | JUNE 2020

A yearly event for the past few years. I really dig this swim…more of just a paddle around and laugh and chat to people in the water. Met some amazing people today.
One group dashed off towards Big Bay for a swim “proper”
Look out for our next one on 5 Sept – the Spring Splash…i think we will have 2 groups. 1 “Chilled” group and one “Miler” group.
Thank you to everyone that brought goodies along (non perishables and masks)…you guys rock!
Thanks to the Beach Babes and the team from Fire and Ash Marketing for their amazing donations.
