2015 Mandela Day…or week…
(As a community upliftment organisation) For Mandela Day we did the following…
And in saying “we did” – I really mean we got people from the community to do it for themselves (There is something special about that)
Community upliftment through community involvement.

Baking project – fed well over 700 people (ongoing engagement opportunity)
Soup kitchen – fed over 500 people (and still carrying on) (ongoing engagement opportunity)
Youth leadership Imbizo 80 kids (ongoing engagement opportunity)
Park upliftment/painting/cleanup/graffiti defacing Project – 30 kids (ongoing engagement opportunity)
300 blankets strategically handed out (not just a free handout)
Handed over toys (and consumables to the value of R5000) to a crèche for special needs kids
7 Beach cleanups – Gordons Gay, Strand, Sea Point, Kleinmond, Blouberg, 2 x Milnerton Lighthouse (ongoing engagement opportunity)
Community cleanup in Joe Slovo Park (ongoing engagement opportunity)
Sporting day for 100 kids (ongoing engagement opportunity)
Beach run and night beach run and big freeze swim – fundraiser for our arts and crafts programs
Entrepreneurship Training – as part of our baking project. Empowering, equipping, educating and inspiring ladies to be self-sustainable
Life Savers Course – for 4 under privileged kids from Joe Slovo Park
Arts and crafts Program – with unemployed people (ongoing engagement opportunity)

We are also currently working on 2 main projects to finish up the year on a strong note. One is the Blouberg Beach Sports Festival and the other is an Inter-community Youth Leadership, Career and Sports Imbizo. Both will be fundraisers for our Ukhozi Girls Club and the Run 2 Lead Program

PS – most of the above would NEVER of been possible if it wasn’t for many of the companies that partnered with us (Pickford Removals, Dolphin Beach, Rawson, KFM & Lead SA, Petroplan, SA Health Care, Symantec, Elkanah School, The Vineyard and Townhouse Hotel, Reno Roofs, Group 5 Oil & Gas, WWF, Milnerton Lifesaving Club, Prime Cleaning Services, Polyoak, Petco)…high five to them all.
